Name: Ben
Breed:

Lurcher/Collie/Staffordshire Bull Terrier Crossbreed

Sex: Male
Age: 2 Years
Colour: Black & White
Dog friendly: Yes
Cats: Unknown but probably not.
Children: Teenage

Please meet ECR's very loving and smiley, Ben.

Ben is still only a baby at just 2 yrs old, and is a Lurcher/Collie/Staffie Cross of Lurcher sized proportions, particularly in height.

He gets on well with other dogs, though his play is a bit boisterous . He is exceptionally fast at running, and can leap very high (even from a stand-still or sitting position), so will need a very secure garden with a minimum of 6-foot fencing.  Ben does need a semi rural home where most of the off lead is in fields as not suited to a suburban park environment

We think Ben would  be good at agility or fly ball, as he is so agile, eager to learn, sociable and very easy to train. Ben is very quick to learn, he wants to please you and he is very, very loving. He knows 'sit', 'come', 'down', 'paw', 'this way' and 'stay' and does a ‘high-five’.

Ben has a wonderfully broad smile and a very bouncy, energetic nature. He will need regular off- lead running over open spaces to burn off some energy. When running off lead you can see there is Collie in his breeding as he runs in large circles and he instinctively moves mid-run into the head down, neck out position you see when Collies are herding.

Ben is a little bit timid when first meeting new people and isn’t an overly confident dog. We are therefore looking for a home that will use gentle methods of training and confidence building to bring out the very best in him.  He is a super boy and wants nothing more than to be cuddled and kissed -tummy rubs are a particular favourite!

In one of his previous homes Ben would sit by his lead to let you know that he wanted to go out for a walk, or would fetch the owner’s walking shoes (told you he is smart!). He adores balls of any description and if out on a walk will not leave his ball.

Ben absolutely loves other dogs, so would make a great companion dog for a confident bitch.

We are looking for a foster home for Ben whilst he finds his forever home as this boy desperately wants to be part of a family and finds being in a kennel quite depressing.

Ben has gone to two separate potential homes whilst with ECR but sadly in the first home the resident female dog became jealous and did not want to share her home with Ben much to the heartache of Ben and his potential adopters. Ben was faultless in the home.

Ben then went on a trial basis to another home where he was equally adored. This family lived in an area where his only off-lead running was in woods where there were Deer. It became apparent Ben has a high prey drive for wildlife and thus could not be let off-lead there at all. As Ben needs plenty of off-lead exercise to burn off his energy levels he has had to come back into the care of ECR. Ben can thus only be re-homed to a family where any off-lead running will not be in wooded areas where there are Deer.

All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and  neutered  where medically appropriate.

Name: Billy
Breed: Crossbreed
Sex: Male
Age: 12 years
Colour: Dark Chocolate & White
Dog friendly: Yes
Cats: Yes good.
Children: 10+

Gentle Billy is a lovely older chap who has sadly found himself in rescue due to his owners illness.

He is a cracking boy even if we are unsure what mix of breeds he is!

Billy is small labrador sized with a chocolate brown coat & fluffy white bib.

He had spent his early life chained up as a yard dog and in later years led a very sheltered life with a lady in her 90's so has not experienced very much.

Despite this he has moved into a foster and is coming on in leaps and bounds, enjoying his walks, playing with the other resident dogs and learning to play with a ball. He is extremely affectionate and is constantly nuzzling for attention.

He does have some separation issues and as such we are looking to place him either as a companion dog or in a multi dog home where the owner is home based and can work with our behaviourists on this. He is certainly improving and the main issue seems to be confinement and we feel he can overcome this in the right home. Please consider this lovely, cuddly bear x

Billy is vaccinated, neutered &  microchipped.

Please note that due to limited resources we are only able to rehome our dogs within a 20 mile radius of Reigate.

Name: Jake
Breed: Parson Terrier
Sex: Male
Age: 5 years
Colour: Tri-colour with badger face - boken coat
Dog friendly: Currently working with a socialisation programme
Cats: No
Children: Older 14+

Can you Help our ‘Special’ Little Man?

Jakey is a really affectionate tri-coloured Parson Terrier whose hobbies include playing with toys, doing tricks for liver treats and squirrel and bird watching.

He is very stimulated by noise, especially engine/traffic noise and the motion of any wheels.

We feel that he may have spent much of his early life outside near a busy road and amused himself by chasing the traffic and then when he became over stimulated chased his tail in frustration.

He is very bright and very quick to learn new tricks but also very OCD and needs a very strict routine, we do feel that he is possibly on the Autism scale.

He is a loving little man and is at his happiest when he is with you but also needs some 'down time' on his own.   For this reason we are looking for a 'special home'- an adult only with terrier experience,  in a rural situation without other dogs, where he has access to fields for walking without having to journey in the car or walk along a road with traffic.

Jakey is a happy boy and so deserves a second chance, so if you would like to help him and work under guidance from our behaviourist, please get in touch. He will repay you a hundred times over with lots of  love and kisses

Name: Ruby
Breed: American Bulldog cross
Sex: Female
Age: 5 years
Colour: Brindle & White
Dog friendly:

Can be choosy

Cats: No
Children: 12+

Ruby is a lovely affectionate girl, full of exuberance and is at her happiest charging around the garden with her toys and then coming to flop on you for a cuddle. She is quite a clumsy girlie and doesn’t realise her size or her weight (30 kilos) and likes to try and sit on your lap!!

She underwent a cruciate and meniscus tear operation at the end of last summer which meant that walks and socialisation training were suspended for some months, the operation was a great success and she is no longer in pain and back to charging around the garden.

Ruby is very much a people dog and loves nothing more than you to spend time in her company interacting with toys, treats and cuddles and is even very gentle with elderly people despite her normal clumsiness .

She is a big favourite amongst all of our volunteers, even the ones that are not normally bullbreed lovers as she gives everyone such a wonderful greeting and is genuinely pleased to see them.Ruby is not keen to share this and as such we are looking for a semi rural home with a large garden where she can have some decent off lead playing and any walks can be onlead.

Ruby is currently in foster and her foster mum can confirm that she is easy to have around, happy to occupy herself with a bone or rawhide and take herself of into the garden to play with a toy.

She greets everyone with a bottom wag and a smile and is good company and can be found beside you helping in the kitchen (she does counter surf!!) or on gardening duty down in the veg patch.

.

Ruby is extremely sensitive,  and always keen to please and loves any form of fuss, especially tummy tickles, please consider this big bundle of love.

Ruby  is vaccinated, microchipped and  neutered .

Name:  Pele

Breed: Jack Russell Terrier

Sex: Male

Age:  5 years

Colour:  White & Black

Dog friendly: Yes

Cats: No

Children:  No

Pele is a lovely  black & white, smooth coated,  short-legged jack russell terrier .

He is a very handsome little man, but unfortunately (as with many black faced dogs) this doesn't always show up well on his photos!

Pele really is the most affectionate boy imaginable, showering you with kisses, affection  and wanting to play, and has really come out of his shell since arriving at kennels . He gets on well with other dogs  ( he particularly likes the company of other small dogs), and we often use him when assessing other dogs, or as a  walking companion for some of our more timid residents.

He is house trained, loves to play with all sorts of toys (particularly balls ), really enjoys his walks, and travels well in the car - enjoying being out and about.

We are looking for a special, adult only home for Pele as he does have partial seizures, and although these are controlled with his daily meds, he can have an ‘anxiety attack’ which appears to be movement in slow motion and/or a staring into space episode and these can both leave him a little disorientated and needing a quiet, calm space to regain his equilibrium.  Someone with behavioural experience would be best suited

For this reason we are looking for a home that is  dog experienced, patient and understanding,  Pele has so much to offer, and you will be rewarded with the most fantastic little man.

If you are interested in re-homing  Pele , please complete our online homing application here.

Pele is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped
