Long Term Foster Dogs

Name: Tammy Yorkie
Breed: Yorkie a
Sex: Female - spayed
Age: 15 yrs
Colour: Grizzle
Dog friendly:

yes

Cats: unknown
Children: 10 yrs plus

Tammy and Polly are sadly looking for a new home together after the sudden death of their lady owner.   Tammy  is a real character, very confident,  loves fuss and attention and despite her years is very sprightly although she was diagnosed with tracheal collapse in 2019 so she needs to wear a harness not a collar and doesn't require walking just a mooch around the garden is sufficient.  She has had an MOT with our vet and is in good health, vaccinated and spayed, and has had a shampoo and set at our groomers and is happy to be trimmed and handled x  Polly is a very shy girl who tends to take Tammy's lead, but soon comes around and is very sweet and licky x  She does like to know where Tammy is at all times and was quite shell-shocked by her owners bereavement as she was the one that sat with her on the sofa xx  She has also had a shampoo and set and is quite happy to be trimmed. She has been health checked and vaccinated by us x  Both girls are used to home comforts and are always asking to be picked up for cuddles and to sit on your lap x They are house trained and clean overnight. They are a lovely pair of girls and due to Tammy's age we would look to do a longterm foster whereby we would cover any veterinary bills, please consider them x

Name: Grandad Gus
Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Sex: Male
Age: 16 yrs
Colour: Red
Dog friendly: Yes
Cats: Unknown
Children: 10 yrs plus

Sadly poor old boy Gus was found wandering the streets of London and picked up by the dog warden. He is blind and very doddery so must have been terrified out on his own amongst traffic :((

Our lovely local dog warden Tara, knows we have a soft spot for the oldies and contacted us to take him in our new OAP unit.   He arrived cold and exhausted and spent the first 48hrs sound asleep in a soft, cosy bed in 20 degrees heat in the OAP unit and on four meals a day x  Once his batteries were recharged, it became apparent that he had the start of dementia and teamed with his blindness it made him very anxious x We had him checked at our vets as his teeth are appalling, but his heart is strong and for his age his legs are good with minimal arthritis although he has some kidney issues. We started him on some meds to help with his stress and he is much better and teamed with his renal diet, there has now been an improvement with his kidney function. Despite his age, he is clean and always asks to go out to toilet x Like a true oldie he does sleep a lot but enjoys his 20 min walk twice a day with his tennis ball to the post box, sporting his thermal  Postman Pat coat x  He is dear old chap, very affectionate and chatty, and it breaks our hearts to think that someone could just abandon him, so he will live out his days here unless we can find an angel foster mum who can cope with his dementia xxx

Name: Sally
Breed: Parson Terrier
Sex: Female
Age: 14 yrs
Colour: Tri-colour
Dog friendly: Yes
Cats: Yes
Children: 12 plus

Sally is sadly looking for a home as her old mum has had to go into care :(  She is an extremely affectionate and knowing little girl, can be a bit timid at first but soon comes around if you offer her a tennis ball or some sausage !!!!

She is looking for a quiet retirement home with lots of love and company. She is good with other dogs but not keen on youngsters rushing up to her and will politely tell them off, and does get quite jealous over laps and food which she is not keen to share, so would be best going as an only pet whereby she gets all the attention xx She does have poorly joints and is not up for a long walk but happy to potter around in the garden with you and when you are not looking will go off and hide all the tennis balls! She also finds steps difficult so would be suited to a flat area straight from the kitchen door or is happy to be carried up and down x She is great company and easy to have around, happy to snooze by your feet when you are on the computer and for an oldie is very clean and does ask to go out. She is currently on Previcox as an anti inflammatory daily.

A really sweet girlie just yearning to be loved x

Name: Daisy and Sophie - LONGTERM FOSTER REQUIRED
Breed: Border Collies
Sex: Females
Age: 13 yrs and 11 yrs
Colour: Black and White
Dog friendly: Yes
Cats: Yes
Children: 10 +

These lovely, friendly girls have sadly lost their dad and mum is too poorly to look after them.  They have been much loved and cared for and this is very evident in their happy and relaxed demeanour.

Daisy is the older lady and is more reserved than the vivacious Sophie, although instantly comes alive as soon as you introduce a tennis ball!!! She is very affectionate and gentle although plays second fiddle to Sophie who barges her out of the way if she thinks she is missing out on any fuss!!!

Sophie is the confident one, rushing up to everyone with her whole body wagging and begging for cuddles and you will get nuzzled if you stop the stroking!! Both girls love to be spoken to and are very fussy and straight over when you sit down :)))

As these ladies are seniors we are looking for longterm fostering as Daisy is currently on anti-inflammatories for an arthritic shoulder and Sophie has had previous mast cell tumours removed. As a longterm foster we provide any necessary veterinary care at ECR's vets and ask the fosterer to provide a loving home and food if possible. These girlies are very sweet and would make wonderful companions xxx

Name: Monty
Breed: Westie
Sex: Male
Age: 13 yrs
Colour: white
Dog friendly: Yes
Cats: No
Children: 12 plus

Monty came into rescue in 2018 after both his mum and dad went into care. A sweet lad but with ongoing skin issues which had festered 😞 Monty is one of our long term fosters and is on continual steroids, antibiotics, weekly baths and ear drops to keep his skin under control as we were unable to do this with diet. In Jan 2019 Monty suffered a rear limb paralysis and was hospitalised for several days with a diagnosis of lumbar spondylosis and left and right hip luxation. Despite this he has made a miraculous recovery and although a little stiff he enjoys his short walks and trips to the doggy chiropractor x ECR fund all of Monty's treatment x
