Name: Rex
Breed: Yorkie cross Terrier
Sex: Male
Age: 3
Colour: Black & Tan
Dog friendly: Yes
Cats: No
Children: 8+

Rex is a small, male Yorkshire Terrier cross who was found on a doorstep, shivering, on Boxing Day 2016.

Sadly Rex didn't seem to know any commands when he came in to ECR but he has learned 'sit' and 'come' very quickly. He will need some toilet training in his home but he should pick that up very quickly.  He is very treat orientated and very bright so is very easy to train.

Rex is a very sweet and loveable little man, and soooo keen to please you.  He has come a long way with his confidence since he first arrived in our care and spends a lot of time running around and playing with Dexter whom we think has helped with this confidence boost.  As such, we do feel Rexie needs this interaction with other dogs and would perhaps be better going to a home with an older, confident non terrier type or at least meeting and walking with one daily.

Rex is quite a busy little man and does enjoy a good walk but will require further training with his recall and he is extremely quick at the door, so a porch or inner gate will need to be used initially. This little chap has so much to give so please consider him.

All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and  neutered  where medically appropriate.

Please note that due to limited resources we are only able to rehome our dogs within a 20 mile radius of Reigate.

Name: Dexter
Breed: Terrier Cross (Possibly Pug Cross)
Sex: Male
Age: 5 years old
Colour: Black & Tan
Dog friendly: Yes
Cats: Unknown - possibly
Children: 8+

Dexter is a small crossbreed boy, possibly Jack Russell Terrier x Pug. Dexter has sadly been passed around a number of homes over a short period of time prior to being surrendered to ECR due to having separation anxiety when left at home alone.

He is a very happy, smiley chap who absolutely loves cuddles and the company of other dogs to run around and play with. He is ball crazy and has brilliant skills of ‘fetching’ a ball/toy back to you and dropping it at your feet. He will then, if told to, ‘leave’ it until you pick it up to throw it for him again. He’d play this game for hours given the option. However Dexter also loves sitting by you/on your lap for some cuddles.

Dexter is extremely bright and eager to learn new games and quickly got the hang of playing ’find it’, where you hide a toy for him to find. He is very treat orientated and so is very easy to train and teach new tricks. He knows ‘sit’, ‘paw’, ‘leave’, ‘fetch’  and ‘down’.

Dexter went to a prospective home whilst with ECR with a family and he loved the two young boys. He was clean and quiet in the home and he soon bonded very quickly. However, signs of separation anxiety then began to emerge and with the structure of the home being as it was, it was not possible to have an area where Dexter could be stair-gated to avoid him escaping from the home to avoid being left at home. That being the case the hard decision was made by the family that it was right for Dexter to come back to ECR so that we could work with him with our behavourist and a family that have the set-up and time to be able to work on a programme with Dexter to deal with his separation anxiety whilst being able to ensure his safety that he cannot escape from the home when people leave the home.

Dexter was cat tested in a home with a confident cat. We found him to be more interested in toys than the cat so he may well be able to live with a cat.

Dexter really is a super little man with lots of potential. With time and commitment and following guidance from our behaviourist we feel he could make great progress with his separation anxiety.

We are therefore looking for a home for Dexter where the family are at home for much of the time and if possible, has another resident dog that does not have any separation anxiety issues.

Dexter is currently in private boarding kennels and we would love for him to be able to go to a committed foster home with someone who is at home much of the time and who is willing to work with our behavourist on a programme to help him overcome his separation anxiety.

All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and  neutered  where medically appropriate.

Name: Billy
Breed: Crossbreed
Sex: Male
Age: 12 years
Colour: Dark Chocolate & White
Dog friendly: Yes
Cats: Yes good.
Children: 10+

Gentle Billy is a lovely older chap who has sadly found himself in rescue due to his owners illness.

He is a cracking boy even if we are unsure what mix of breeds he is!

Billy is small labrador sized with a chocolate brown coat & fluffy white bib.

He had spent his early life chained up as a yard dog and in later years led a very sheltered life with a lady in her 90's so has not experienced very much.

Despite this he has moved into a foster and is coming on in leaps and bounds, enjoying his walks, playing with the other resident dogs and learning to play with a ball. He is extremely affectionate and is constantly nuzzling for attention.

He does have some separation issues and as such we are looking to place him either as a companion dog or in a multi dog home where the owner is home based and can work with our behaviourists on this. He is certainly improving and the main issue seems to be confinement and we feel he can overcome this in the right home. Please consider this lovely, cuddly bear x

Billy is vaccinated, neutered &  microchipped.

Please note that due to limited resources we are only able to rehome our dogs within a 20 mile radius of Reigate.

Name: Ben
Breed:

Lurcher/Collie/Staffordshire Bull Terrier Crossbreed

Sex: Male
Age: 2 Years
Colour: Black & White
Dog friendly: Yes
Cats: Unknown but probably not.
Children: Teenage

Please meet ECR's very loving and smiley, Ben.

Ben is still only a baby at just 2 yrs old, and is a Lurcher/Collie/Staffie Cross of Lurcher sized proportions, particularly in height.

He gets on well with other dogs, though his play is a bit boisterous . He is exceptionally fast at running, and can leap very high (even from a stand-still or sitting position), so will need a very secure garden with a minimum of 6-foot fencing.  Ben does need a semi rural home where most of the off lead is in fields as not suited to a suburban park environment

We think Ben would  be good at agility or fly ball, as he is so agile, eager to learn, sociable and very easy to train. Ben is very quick to learn, he wants to please you and he is very, very loving. He knows 'sit', 'come', 'down', 'paw', 'this way' and 'stay' and does a ‘high-five’.

Ben has a wonderfully broad smile and a very bouncy, energetic nature. He will need regular off- lead running over open spaces to burn off some energy. When running off lead you can see there is Collie in his breeding as he runs in large circles and he instinctively moves mid-run into the head down, neck out position you see when Collies are herding.

Ben is a little bit timid when first meeting new people and isn’t an overly confident dog. We are therefore looking for a home that will use gentle methods of training and confidence building to bring out the very best in him.  He is a super boy and wants nothing more than to be cuddled and kissed -tummy rubs are a particular favourite!

In one of his previous homes Ben would sit by his lead to let you know that he wanted to go out for a walk, or would fetch the owner’s walking shoes (told you he is smart!). He adores balls of any description and if out on a walk will not leave his ball.

Ben absolutely loves other dogs, so would make a great companion dog for a confident bitch.

We are looking for a foster home for Ben whilst he finds his forever home as this boy desperately wants to be part of a family and finds being in a kennel quite depressing.

Ben has gone to two separate potential homes whilst with ECR but sadly in the first home the resident female dog became jealous and did not want to share her home with Ben much to the heartache of Ben and his potential adopters. Ben was faultless in the home.

Ben then went on a trial basis to another home where he was equally adored. This family lived in an area where his only off-lead running was in woods where there were Deer. It became apparent Ben has a high prey drive for wildlife and thus could not be let off-lead there at all. As Ben needs plenty of off-lead exercise to burn off his energy levels he has had to come back into the care of ECR. Ben can thus only be re-homed to a family where any off-lead running will not be in wooded areas where there are Deer.

All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and  neutered  where medically appropriate.

Name: Ruby
Breed: American Bulldog cross
Sex: Female
Age: 5 years
Colour: Brindle & White
Dog friendly:

Can be choosy

Cats: No
Children: 12+

Ruby is a lovely affectionate girl, full of exuberance and is at her happiest charging around the garden with her toys and then coming to flop on you for a cuddle. She is quite a clumsy girlie and doesn’t realise her size or her weight (30 kilos) and likes to try and sit on your lap!!

She underwent a cruciate and meniscus tear operation at the end of last summer which meant that walks and socialisation training were suspended for some months, the operation was a great success and she is no longer in pain and back to charging around the garden.

Ruby is very much a people dog and loves nothing more than you to spend time in her company interacting with toys, treats and cuddles and is even very gentle with elderly people despite her normal clumsiness .

She is a big favourite amongst all of our volunteers, even the ones that are not normally bullbreed lovers as she gives everyone such a wonderful greeting and is genuinely pleased to see them.Ruby is not keen to share this and as such we are looking for a semi rural home with a large garden where she can have some decent off lead playing and any walks can be onlead.

Ruby is currently in foster and her foster mum can confirm that she is easy to have around, happy to occupy herself with a bone or rawhide and take herself of into the garden to play with a toy.

She greets everyone with a bottom wag and a smile and is good company and can be found beside you helping in the kitchen (she does counter surf!!) or on gardening duty down in the veg patch.

.

Ruby is extremely sensitive,  and always keen to please and loves any form of fuss, especially tummy tickles, please consider this big bundle of love.

Ruby  is vaccinated, microchipped and  neutered .
